After a wireless module change, which tests have to be repeated
Module changes are the most common trigger for rework on smart home products.
Module changes are the most common trigger for rework on smart home products. The question is not whether the part number moved on, but whether the radio parameters did: antenna type, transmit power, channel range, modulation, and the certification status of the module itself.
Where the new module keeps the same radio front end and antenna design and already holds a valid certification, many markets can be handled by assessment and a document update. Once the antenna position or matching circuit changes, radiated measurements usually have to be repeated.
Attach a radio parameter comparison and the antenna drawing to the change request. An engineer can scope the work from that; a note reading only “module replaced” costs more time than it saves.
