Standby power and energy labels: measure on the prototype before you file
Energy and ecodesign requirements are demanding because the measurement conditions are strict: load profiles, the definition of standby state, ambient temperature and sample conditioning all follow the method standard.
Energy and ecodesign requirements are demanding because the measurement conditions are strict: load profiles, the definition of standby state, ambient temperature and sample conditioning all follow the method standard. Any power adapter swap between prototype and production can invalidate existing data.
The safer sequence is a dry run on the prototype first, so the margin is known, then the formal report against the production configuration. A finding during the dry run usually costs a circuit parameter change. The same finding after the formal report costs a retest, reissued documents and a decision on units already shipped.
Nameplate and label artwork are worth checking in the same pass, so the printed values and the report never disagree.
